The Sleep Progression Method

The Sleep Progression Method consists of 2 steps; early sleep coaching and consistent routine.

So much planning, time, money, and effort is put into your baby shower, decorating your baby nursery, imagining your birth story – and then when Baby is here – often little or no effort is put into coaching them how to sleep or forming routines and schedules for their days to make them feel safe and comfortable. “Survival mode” is an accepted Hollywood portrayal of life with a newborn – but that is not the only option!

As a sleep training expert of 14 years I have successfully used this method with my own children and shared with many friends and wanted to share how you can set your baby up for Sleep Progression and little or no tears. A well rested and fed baby is calm and content to explore their world between naps and feedings – the ultimate goal is for your Sleep Progressed baby to be content to be put down for naps and bedtime AND wake up happy!

No Leaps, More Sleeps!

It is a common myth that every baby goes through a “sleep regression”. An early sleep coached baby who is on a consistent routine will NOT experience any “sleep regressions” or “leaps” as they know how to self settle and fall back asleep themselves.

Let’s consider this for a moment: Baby comes home from the hospital and there is no routine put in place – there is no rhyme or reason to Baby’s day – Baby is nursed to sleep every time and wakes up crying not knowing where they are or what is happening next. Baby happens to get tired and sleeps normally a few times, but the next time Baby doesn’t sleep normally equals the next 3-4 weeks which get labeled as a “regression” or a “leap”. As soon as Baby finally gets a couple of nights sleep again – it starts again and – repeat – gets labeled as another regression and so on and so forth.

There is a better way!
